one of those novels that really wins me over with its politics and strategy more than anything else. I found the court intrigue and warfare super engaging, esp w/ how everything feels connected and constantly shifting, like you're always trying to figure out who's lying and who's three steps ahead. I really liked the main characters too. SZC and XCY are intense + sharp and honestly very entertaining together esp in how their relationship grows out of pure hostility into something much deeper. That said, I do think the romance moved a bit too suddenly at times, like it jumped from enemies to devotion without enough gradual buildup. I also felt a few side characters and plot threads were just left hanging without proper closure. Still, overall I think it's a really strong read with amazing political storytelling and it kept me hooked even when it got complicated or emotionally heavy
I really liked this novel , especially because of the plot and the genres . They have a perfect mix of romance and politics and I just really like it in general !
