This novel is the best example of "Good concept, bad execution". A great potential of a novel to grow further in the plot and world building if it weren't for focusing a lot in romance and butchering female lead's life to misery because of a boy. Shen Bing has a good build-up in her story and progress but after the time the Alliance started pairing for temporary marriage, female lead's life turned for worse. Author has a bad habit of forcing the FL and ML to establish romance when FL wants to move on in life after knowing ML doesn't really like her. It's like giving a hot coffee with soy sauce, they are greatly incompatible. The female lead in this story faced a lot of self-sacrifice for a boy who doesn't deserve her love. ML is a dark red-flag in this story, confusing and pathetic. He doesn't deserve to get FL back nor even be recognized as a biological father to FL's child. He lives too much about his past and let's the woman that looks like a lot of his childhood sweetheart cloud his decisions. If I were FL, I won't like this kind of guy even if he is the best choice out of everyone in the alliance. I wish FL stays forever with Qin Fen but we know, although in hiatus and unfinished, she will come back to ML. Author should have made this sci-fi dystopian focus than have a lot of romance focus which ruined a lot of potential for FL and her survival in the new world. It might helped a lot how the Alliance treats women in their new world, however it was executed badly. The story of FL here is a great lesson where you shouldn't love a man your whole life and pin your hopes to them or the life you have built from sweat, blood, and tears will be ruined by them.
