Yuzuki keeps her shop open with numb fingers and a careful smile, even when the mountain road is half-buried in snow. She knows paper, ink, and the way people hide fear in their hands. She also knows how to act like her heart is not shaking when a girl from school steps into the shop and leaves a folded paper crane on her desk. Yuzuki wants small, ordinary things. Quiet work. A life that does not ask for too much. Instead, old names start circling her counter, and one damaged bowl with a gold crack begins pulling her back into a past she left behind.
