Starting with my favorite of the ZIC trio, I fell in love hard with Taeuis and Ilay's relationship, yes Ilay is a weird-ass guy but as the novel progresses I started to like Ilay more and more (as it happens), I feel when you first read it you don't realize the mental changes Ilay goes through, how he does these exceptions for Taeui only and how he starts liking him in his own special way (Taeui isnt joking when he says Ilay doesnt have a normal human processing) Hashtag spoiler but one of my favorite scenes is on the Seringe arc where Ilay is on his motorbike just smiling lovingly at Taeui, cannot wait for that to get adaptated. Second favorite of the ZIC trio, CA was a hard start for me, I wasnt infatuated at all with Zhenyas and Taekjoo's relationship (which ig is to be expected in the first chapters), specially not after the r*pe scene. After that I really debated to continue the story but I was so interested in Taekjoo's character so I did. I honestly felt like I was being gaslighted alongside Taekjoo on the island arc, I started to like Zhenya because he was changing (as it is expected once again lol) and let me tell you, I went from hating his character to him competing agaisnt Ilay's spot, blud really did a 180 and became one of my most loved characters out there. Their relationship became so dear to me I'm constantly re-reading the lovey dovey chapters.
R&C used to be my first pick out of the ZIC trio, then I read the other two and well here we are, I have seen the novel is way better than the manhwa so maybe my listing will change. Anyways R&C is def one of my favorite tropes done right, mafia boss x normal person but make the normal person have guts?? amazing give me more. Leewon is just an amazing character, and from the TLTj trio he's def top 1, he is such an interesting character and the way his relationship with Caesar is told amazes me so much, I really feel it is more he matches his freak when he opened himself to the idea than Stockholm syndrome. Caesar on the other hand was a hard character to appreciate, being raised as a future mafia boss and not as a child really fucked up his head, so trying to see his affection moments for Leewon as love was really hard, specially when he had his obsessive moments.
If you are in for the romance it is def gonna be a hard read. ATWR has a really special charm when it comes to the psychological aspect of their relationship, it is genuinely addicting to read as much as both characters are addicted and obsessed with each other. Honestly I don't even know how I want it to end because of this. The isolated house arc has been okay so far but I think nothing tops the constant stress the first arcs had.
AMAZING, CHEF'S KISS, I ADORE THIS STORY SO MUCH. What more can I say, compared to the original story cough KML cough which was so meh for me, KMIYC was an amazing swift of fresh air. I adored the progress of Chases and Josh's relationship, the development of their interest for each other, the slowburn of their approachment, GOD I feel like screaming just from remembering. THAT scene of Josh taking command on Chase's trailer, wow, I had to take minutes between each sentence. The after-chasing scene (iykyk) on the car had me screaming for days. I adore these two fools so much and wish we had another whole book just of them two.
